Faith That Works Series
Faithfulness in the Workplace
Sunday June 29, 2025 - Derek Yan
James 2:14-17

Big Idea: True faith produces visible faithfulness in our integrity, decisions, and daily work. The workplace isn't separate from our spiritual life - it's one of its clearest expressions.

Three Applications of Faithfulness from Daniel 6:

  • 1. Faithfulness is Proven in the Small, Everyday Decisions
    1. Daniel 6:4 - No fault was found in him.
    2. Luke 16:10 - Faithful in little = faithful in much.
    3. James 2:17 - Faith without works is dead.
    4. Even our small actions are a reflection of our faith.
  • 2. Faithfulness Refuses to Compromise, Even Under Pressure
    1. Daniel 6:10 - Daniel prayed openly, knowing the risk.
    2. Romans 12:2 - Be transformed, not conformed.
    3. Acts 5:29 - "We must obey God rather than men."
    4. True faith often means holding your ground when it's costly.
  • 3. Faithfulness Endures Through Trials and Points Others to God
    1. Daniel 6:23 - Daniel was delivered because he trusted God.
    2. Galatians 6:9 - Don't grow weary in doing good.
    3. Matthew 7:24 - Build on the rock by doing what Jesus says.
    4. Faithfulness endures during hardships and trials.

Personal Reflections from Derek's Journey:

  1. Practicing stewardship in travel and spending with the company's resources
  2. Turning down a family friend's request for an internship
  3. Leading the company through a difficult merger and acquisition period

Group Discussion:

  1. What are some challenges you face in connecting your faith to your work?
  2. How can you be a light for Christ through your job or studies?
  3. Discuss a time when your integrity was tested at work or school. How did you respond?
  4. What does it look like to be faithful and fruitful in your current role?
