Faith That Submits
Faith, Work, and Humility as a Lifestyle
Sunday July 13, 2025 - Alex Wiesen
James 4
Key Message: Real faith is humble, not proud or self-centered.
Humble and Hungry: Living Surrendered to God
Big Idea: Faith bows before God-pride has no place in real Christianity.
Key Verse: "Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up." - James 4:10
Main Points: Faith, Work, and Humility as a Lifestyle
- 1. Quarrels come from selfish desires (James 4:1-3) When we prioritize our wants over God's will, conflict follows.
- 2. Humility means acknowledging God is in control, not us (James 4: 10-12) We aren't in control; God makes the rules and is always in charge.
- 3. Don't boast about tomorrow (James 4:13-17) Humility recognizes that our future is in God's hands, not ours.
Workplace Application: Faith, Work, and Humility as a Lifestyle
- A faithful worker is a humble worker. True submission to God is reflected in how we treat others at work-with integrity, respect, and servant-heartedness.
- Rather than seeking recognition or pushing others down to get ahead, a believer leads by lifting others up, staying teachable, and being accountable.
- Work becomes worship when done with excellence and humility. Whether in leadership or entry-level roles, real faith is not boastful but diligent, generous, and surrendered to God's timing and plan.
