Multiply
The Mission to Multiply
Sunday September 14, 2025 - Pastor Wungreiso Valui
Luke 9:1-6
Text: Luke 9:1-6. Read Aloud
"Then He called His twelve disciples together and gave them power and authority over all demons, and to cure diseases. He sent them to preach the kingdom of God and to heal the sick. And He said to them, 'Take nothing for the journey, neither staffs nor bag nor bread nor money; and do not have two tunics apiece. Whatever house you enter, stay there, and from there depart. And whoever will not receive you, when you go out of that city, shake off the very dust from your feet as a testimony against them. So they departed and went through the towns, preaching the gospel and healing everywhere."
(Luke 10:1-3 "After these things the Lord appointed seventy others also...)
Focus: Jesus sends us on a mission to proclaim the Kingdom - equipped with power and authority, relying not on human resources but trusting God's provision.
Big Question
What holds you back from fully trusting God when He sends you?
Do you fear lack? Insecurity? Inadequacy? Jesus addresses all of that in His sending.
Jesus Gives Us Power: "He gave them power and authority..." (Luke 9:1)
- Have you received what you're trying to give?
- How do you think that power and authority apply to us today?
Jesus Sends Us With A Mission: "He sent them to preach the kingdom of God..."
- We don't choose the message-we deliver Jesus's message.
- Jesus combined preaching and healing. Why do you think both were important?
We Receive By Faith: "Take nothing for the journey..."
- This instruction removes excuses - we are not sent based on our readiness, but on faith.
- What might be holding you back from fully receiving what Jesus wants to give?
We Go In Obedience: "So they departed and went through the towns, preaching the gospel and healing everywhere."
- How can our group encourage each other to "go" this week?
Challenge for the Week
- Write down 1 thing holding you back from obeying God's sending.
- Then, surrender them in prayer and ask: "Lord, help me multiply what You've given me."
- Now, identify one step of obedience you can take this week.
Group Prayer Focus:
- Ask God for a fresh sense of His power.
- Pray for clarity and courage in the mission.
- Invite the Holy Spirit to stir obedience and multiplication.
Pray for Alpha this evening from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM: This Sunday afternoon will be the last chance to RSVP, as we have to take the meal count.
