Seek the Dying & The Lost

Luke 15:1-32

Focus: God loves the lost and rejoices in their return.

15:1 Then all the tax collectors and the sinners drew near to Him to hear Him. 2 And the Pharisees and scribes complained, saying, "This Man receives sinners and eats with them."

Q. When was the last time you spent meaningful time with someone who doesn't follow Christ? What did you do together?

1. The Parable of the Lost Sheep | Luke 15:4-7

4 "What man of you, having a hundred sheep, if he loses one of them, does not leave the ninety-nine in the wilderness, and go after the one which is lost until he finds it?

Q. What do you need to leave behind to go and seek what is lost?

2. The Parable of the Lost Coin | Luke 15:8-9

8 "Or what woman, having ten silver coins, if she loses one coin, does not light a lamp, sweep the house, and search carefully until she finds it?

Q. What do you need to light up and sweep away to find what has been lost?

3. The Parable of the Lost Son | Luke 15: 11-18

18 I will arise and go to my father, and will say to him, "Father, I have sinned against heaven and before you.

Q. What step do you need to take to arise and return to your Father? - The Father's Heart for the Lost | Luke 15:20-24

20 "And he arose and came to his father. But when he was still a great way off, his father saw him and had compassion, and ran and fell on his neck and kissed him.

Q. How can we reflect the Father's compassion toward someone who is lost? - The Older Son | Luke 15:25-30

28 "But he was angry and would not go in.

Q. How might our attitudes or actions mirror those of the older son toward the lost?

Luke 19:10 - "For the Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost."
